Professional Opportunity: USRA is Seeking Archival Reviewers for AFRL Scholars Professionals

The Universities Space Research Association (USRA), administers the Scholars Professionals (SPs) program for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).
 
They are currently seeking U.S. citizens with Ph.D.s in one of the fields listed below to review applications from individuals with Master’s degrees or Ph.D.s in these fields:
 
•             Archival Science or Archival Studies
•             Library Science or Library and Information Science
•             Digital Studies or Digital Humanities
 
If you agree to review applications, you will receive $50 for each completed review.

 to create a profile by Sunday, December 14. If you are assigned a review, the deadline to complete it will be Friday, January 30, 2026.

Professional Orgs: SAA Preservation Publication Award

Nominate a Colleague (or Yourself!) for SAA’s Preservation Publication Award

The Society of American Archivists Preservation Publication Award committee welcomes nominations of outstanding
preservation-related works of relevance to the North American archives community that
were published in 2025. 

Nominated works may include articles, reports, chapters, or monographs in an
audiovisual, digital, or print formats. Works may cover topics related to analog or digital
preservation.

Event: AHA! at Zinefest Houston 11/15 12-6p

Don’t forget about Zine Fest Houston happening this Saturday, November 15th! This year’s annual Houston Zine Fest will be happening at The Orange Show for Visionary Arts, and AHA will have a table for ya’ll to come by, say hi, and check out our zine submissions!

Zine submissions for AHA are still open! You have until November 30th to submit a zine, with the theme being Community. This could be about a repository you’ve visited, collections you yourself are working on, or anything you want – as long as the theme is community!

Event: 2025 Galveston County History Round-Up

 

Come one, come all to our first annual Galveston County History Round-Up! Community members are invited to bring photographs, letters, documents, and other meaningful items for this in-person digitization event! Collection experts will give you tips on how to care for your keepsakes and make sure you walk away with a flash drive of your digitized items!

Sign up for our raffle to win some goodies to help you protect your family keepsakes! Bring family members along and with your cell phone, and create a short, interactive family oral history interview! The event is FREE, but registration is required. Just scan the QR code or use the link to sign up!  A copy of all scanned items will be retained by the Archives of Galveston County.
