AHA! Zine Committee & AHA! Zine
The AHA! Zine Committee is dedicated to creating an archival-focused zine for the AHA! Community. The AHA! Zine is an archival-focused zine that will allow our community to share and showcase things from their archival work and projects, helping to generate interest and engage people with archives as a whole. This zine is intended to give our community a chance to “publish” their research/art/writing/etc. in a less formal matter – perhaps leading our contributors to more scholarly publishing opportunities in the future. We have put together a great team and now we are looking for content submissions from anyone who has an interest in contributing. Additionally, you do not need to be a member of AHA! to contribute to the zine (but please consider joining AHA!), you just need to have content that is at least somewhat related to archives, libraries, or information repositories. Our committee will review submissions and do our best to include as many contributions as possible.
AHA! Zine, Issue #1: COMMUNITY
The theme we are working with for our first issue is COMMUNITY. We intentionally chose a very broad theme as a way to include everyone’s submissions. AHA! as a community represents a group of people who share a common interest in promoting visibility and access to archival and information repositories in the greater Houston area. That being said, this theme can be expressed in a number of ways, such as: a review of a local library’s current exhibition; a review of a symposium or webinar you attended; a review of an AHA! event; an artwork you created with and/or inspired by archival materials; a write-up of an archival collection; upcoming archival/history events; a summary of an assignment you completed in library school; a review of a digital archive/database (such as the Portal to Texas History); etc. This is in no way a full-list of contribution examples, merely a starting point to get you all interested in the idea of contributing to the AHA! CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!
We are accepting content submissions in two ways:
– Google Form – this is reserved for simple textual submissions with a few images included. From there, the AHA! Zine Committee will format your submission into the zine. Please fill out the AHA! Zine Contribution Form.
– Completed Page(s) – Make your own 5.5″ X 8.5″ page for the zine [2 page max]. Include a title and author name in your submission. Please submit files at 300 dpi minimum. These files can be submitted via email with your page(s) attached as a .tiff, .pdf, .jpg or .png file. Use ‘AHA! Zine – Community’ in your email subject line. Submit by November 30 via email to ahazines@gmail.com
