Elected board positions serve for the entire calendar year and need to be re-elected to continue serving.

 

President

Incumbent: Elyssa Jasso
Position description:
Coordinates the organization’s meetings and seeks members to serve on committees.

 

Vice-President/President-Elect

Incumbent: Open for candidates
Position description:
Assumes the presidential duties in the absence of the President and offers assistance for presidential duties as needed, and coordinates Archives Month activities. The Vice-President is the President-Elect for the next calendar year.

 

Treasurer

Incumbent: A. Laura Ramirez
Position description:
Custodian of all funds; receives all membership dues; maintains the membership rolls; and reports to the organization at meetings on the financial standing of the organization. Treasurer is also Chair of the Membership Committee.

 

Secretary

Incumbent: David Olmos
Position description:
Takes minutes of all meetings of the organization; maintains a copy of the current by-laws; and is responsible for depositing materials to The Woodson Research Center at The Fondren Library, Rice University.

 

Executive Board positions are elected by the membership at our December Membership Meeting. You must be in good standing to qualify for any board position. With the exception of the Membership Chair, Committee Chairs and members can begin their term at any time during the year, they are asked to finish serving in their position until the end of the calendar year. Allowed to serve multiple years.

 

Programming Chair

Incumbent: Krista Hollis
Position description:
-Coordinates committee meetings, including scheduling, creation of an agenda, leading the meeting, and keeping minutes.
-Reports committee activities and progress to the Board and Membership.
-Coordinates with the Communications Committee to ensure that programming is promoted across various communication platforms.

 

Membership Chair

Incumbent: A. Laura Ramirez
Position description:
-Coordinates committee meetings.
-Prioritizes committee activities and projects in support of Treasurer duties, such as dues reminders, budget preparation, and new member onboarding.
-Reports committee activities and progress to the Board and Membership.

 

Communications Chair

Incumbent: Open for Candidates
Position description:
-Coordinating meetings with the rest of the Communications members.
–Reports committee activities and progress to the Board and Membership.
-Generating a report for AHA! Member meetings

 

Zine Chair

Incumbent: Nikki Macháček
Position description:
-Coordinates committee meetings.
-Prioritizes committee activities and projects in support of Zine creation.
-Reports committee activities and progress to the Board and Membership.

 

Archives Bazaar Lead

Incumbent: Elyssa Jasso
Position description:
-Leads planning and coordination for AHA’s biannual Old, Weird Houston archives bazaar in partnership with the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.
-Serves as the primary liaison between the committee, the AHA Board, and partner organizations.
-Prioritizes and coordinates committee activities such as:
      –Repository participation, sponsors, and vendors.
      –Event logistics and promotion.
